2017 LIHEAP Program – Reminder to apply!!

“MCS Community Services, as supported by the Morgan, Cass and Scott County boards, continues to take applications for the 2017 Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program which began September 1, 2016. Those households that have applied and already received assistance from September to now are not eligible to re-apply.

The income guidelines are as follows: one person maximum gross 30 day income of $1,485; a household of two maximum gross 30 day income of $2,003; a household of three maximum gross 30 day income of $2,520; a household of four maximum gross 30 day income of $3,038. Contact the office for larger family size guidelines. Please note that the guidelines are based on gross income.

In addition to proof of monthly income, those applying for assistance must also furnish the social security card for all household members, their most recent heat and electric bill, rent receipt if the utilities are included in the rent and their DHS medical card if cash assistance is received.

Reconnection assistance may be available if your household is actually disconnected or a delivered fuel supplier has refused to deliver and the tank contains 25% or less. Assistance for reconnection will only be provided to households that have made a good faith effort to maintain their energy services or can pay a portion of the amount owed for reconnection.

Households interested in applying should call MCS at 217-243-9404 or toll free 1-888-288-4413 from 8:30 to noon and 1:00 to 4:30 to set up an appointment.
