It was a cold, wet morning on April 26, but 30 boats entered the water at Lake Jacksonville for a chance at prizes in one of the first bass tournaments of the season. The first event was sponsored by the hotels in the Village of South Jacksonville, with a shot for the title and some great raffle gifts. Results were as follows:
1st place: Kevin Mathews, Wesley Gordon (21.34 pound)
2nd place: Chandler Larson, Brandon Holley (15.50 pounds)
3rd place: Damon Lovell, Daylen Lovell (9.92 pounds)
4th place: Danny Curless, Keith Curless (9.62 pounds)
5th place: Mike Cottrell, Blake Cottrell (9.44 pounds)
Big Bass: Connor Hall (6.35 pounds)
Littlest Bass: Connor Hall (.18 of a pound)
Proceeds from the event will benefit a scholarship sponsored by the Jacksonville Citizens Police Academy for area students going into criminal justice or law enforcemet careers.
