After graduation, Hayden Hamel will go to U.S. Air Force Basic Military Training in Texas

It is an extraordinary commitment full of sacrifice and willingness to help others. It is an oath to guard and protect the nation. It is a testament of character.
On Thursday, August 21, Hayden Hamel raised his right hand and was sworn in as a member of the 183rd Wing of the Illinois Air National Guard.
After graduating high school, he will attend basic training next summer and begin his role in All-Source Intelligence.
In this highly specialized role, he will be responsible for both safeguarding our nation’s information and gathering critical data on external threats. His training will equip him with the knowledge necessary to help Airmen successfully complete their missions.
In the meantime, Hamel will be completing his senior year at Routt Catholic High School. Hamel is the son of Clara and Justin Hamel of Jacksonville.
