Prep time: 5 minutes
Cook time: 5 minutes
Cool time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 1 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon (optional)
Directions:
- Cover a sheet pan with parchment paper and set aside.
- In a medium sized skillet, melt butter over low heat.
- Add the chopped walnuts and stir until they are well coated; add sugar and cinnamon.
- Raise the heat to medium and stir continuously for 5 minutes. The sugar will begin to soften, but remain visible in granules, then begin to soften and liquify. Keep stirring and lower the heat if necessary to keep sugar from burning.
- After 5 minutes has ended, pour onto prepared pan and spread into a single layer. As walnuts cool, try to separate them (use a spatula, not your fingers as they are extremely hot).
- Let cool for 5 minutes before serving.
