Annual car show and cruise hits 27 years

The Morton Ave Misfits 27th annual Downtown Plaza Car Show and 9th annual Summer Cruise brought some muscle and memories to the area on Saturday, June 10.
The car show portion of the day ran from 8 a.m.-3 p.m. in downtown Jacksonville, with a variety of year and models on display around the square for automotive enthusiasts to see. Vendors and food trucks were on-site to further fuel the attendees, and live music filled the air.
Most owners of the classic cars were close for questions and comments as well.
The evening’s cruise ran from 5-9, with a route running Morton Avenue from Main Street to Lincoln Avenue cross streets. Headquartered at Hardee’s, the cruise is an additional way to see the classic cars — this time in action.
Proceeds from the event will go to local charities, according to event host and organizer, Morton Ave Misfits. The Morton Ave Misfits will hold another fall cruise event Saturday, Sept. 16.
