Ag in the Classroom

Before summer break became official, several schools from the surrounding area took part in an “Ag in the Classroom” day at Hadden farms, just outside of Jacksonville. With a number of stations set up around the farm, students had the opportunity to gain first-hand learning experiences in the field of agriculture, a subject vital to the progress of communities throughout west central Illinois. One station allowed students to learn about and feel sheep’s wool. At other stations, students were taught about different types of steer while getting to pet a female heifer or toured a grain combine.
