Make this holiday season magical! We are proudly announcing the first ever Jacksonville Festival of Lights. The Morgan County Fairgrounds in Jacksonville will be transformed into a winter wonderland filled with shimmering lights and seasonal displays.
This drive-thru holiday extravaganza will be open 5-9 p.m. each Thursday through Sunday from November 24 to December 31. Follow the Jacksonville Festival of Lights Facebook page for more information.

Illinois Department of Natural Resources stocking trout at Morgan Lake in Nichols Park:
The Parks and Lakes Department would like to announce that the Illinois Department of Natural Resources will be stocking trout at Morgan Lake in Nichols Park. The fall trout season will open up on Saturday, October 21. The trout will be released in the middle section of Morgan Lake at Nichols Park, east of the road bridge. There will be a period of only catch and release fishing from October 7 to October 21. It is only after the season opens up on October 21 that you may keep your trout. The daily catch limit for each angler is 5 trout. All anglers must have a valid fishing license and an Inland Trout Stamp that can be purchased where licenses are sold.

Per Ginny Fanning, current Morgan County Board of Commissioners, please read the following.
I am announcing that I will not seek reelection to the Morgan County Board of Commissioners when my term ends in November 2024.
It has been an honor and a privilege to serve as a Morgan County Commissioner for the past nine years, and I thank the citizens of this county for electing me to this post.
I will continue to work on the many ongoing projects we have at this time. I look forward to doing all that I can until my term ends as well as in the future as a private citizen to ensure the continued progress and prosperity of Morgan County.

Grojean Insurance Agency, located at 360 W. State St. #1 in Jacksonville, shares, “We are giving away Trick-or-Treat bags to anyone who comes to our office.
From now until Halloween, Grojean Insurance Agency is giving away free bags to anyone in town who stops by our office. We have 200 bags left. These are free for everyone, and you do not need to be a current customer of Grojean Insurance Agency. We will be holding another community giveback around Veterans Day to honor our veterans. Jacksonville High School shares Veterans Day assembly information:
Dear United States Veterans and Currently Serving Soldiers:
You are cordially invited to attend and participate in the JHS Annual Veterans Day Assembly on Friday, November 10 at Jacksonville High School in the JHS Auditorium, beginning at 1 p.m.
We will be providing lunch in the JHS faculty lounge for you and a guest at noon prior to the assembly.
Before the assembly begins, we ask that you congregate in the auditorium foyer and will procession into the auditorium when the JHS band plays the “Military Branch” song. You will be seated in the front rows of the middle section of the JHS Auditorium.
You will be invited onto the stage during the assembly to be recognized. Please be prepared to state your name, rank, branch, and any war(s) that you have fought in. It is optional to wear your uniform.
