Sale of discount cards benefit charities:
The Koinonia class of Central Christian Church, Jacksonville plus others recently sold discount cards as a fundraiser; giving $1100 each to Jacksonville Food Bank, New Directions Warming and Cooling Center, and Spirit of Faith Soup Kitchen.
The class would like to thank all the sponsors and all those who purchased a card.

Morgan County Clerk & Recorder Announces Retirement: After 14 years of service to the citizens of Morgan County, County Clerk Jill Waggener announced her retirement effective August 30, 2024. Clerk Waggener was first elected to office in November of 2010 and has worked in the Clerk’s office since 1998.
“On behalf of the Morgan County Republican Central Committee, I congratulate Jill on her retirement and thank her for her years of service,” Chris Ginder, Chairman of the Committee, recently said, “we’ve been very fortunate to have such a strong candidate and effective leader in this office.” Ginder further stated, “The Republican Central Committee looks forward to working with our elected County Commissioners to ensure that the Morgan County Clerk’s office continues its long-held tradition of professionalism and dedicated service for all of the people of Morgan County.”
The Morgan County Republican Central Committee will receive resumes from those interested in filling the remainder of Clerk Waggener’s term. While the Morgan County Commissioners will decide who fills the vacated seat, historically, the Commissioners have requested a recommendation from the Party. Ms. Waggener’s replacement must be a registered Republican.

Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary to host sale:
The Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary will be hosting their yearly H.O.P.S. Sale on September 27 from 8a-4p and September 28 from 8a-12p at the Morgan County Fairgrounds in the 4H building. Donation of items may be dropped off on September 23 from 9a-4p, September 24 from 9a-4p, & September 25 from 9a-4p at the 4H building. No clothing or electronics please! If you have any questions, call 245-7124. Proceeds are used to fund The Salvation Army Youth Programming of Jacksonville.
