Emilie Bezler, a Jacksonville native, graduated from Jacksonville High School in 2018 and is now a professional dancer represented by MSA Agency in Los Angeles. Bezler welcomed 2022 by dancing onstage with Bruno Mars. NBD.
No. Ummm … huge deal.
She has worked incredibly hard for all she has accomplished. Here’s a look at her dance CV covering 2021, which includes performances, television and film work.
Bezler started off working in the new Netflix movie, “He’s All That,” a remake of “She’s All That.” The movie aired in August of 2021 and starred TikTok personality Addison Rae, plus actors Tanner Buchanan (known for his main lead in Netflix’s “Cobra Kai” series), Peyton Meyer (Disney star), Madison Pettis (known for her roles in Disney shows and the movie, “The Game Plan” with The Rock), Rachael Leigh Cook (from the original movie, “She’s All That”), Andrew Matarazzo (from “Teen Wolf”) and others. Bezler starred in the prom dance scene in the movie, where Padgett Sawyer (played by Rae) competes against Alden Pierce (played by Madison Pettis). Bezler says, “All the main actors were involved in the dance scene. I was on Addison’s ‘team,’ and I have many featured moments of me dancing right next to or beside Addison and the other actors. It was such a fun movie to be a part of!”
Bezler continued to ‘bring it on.” In February of 2021, she was part of a new series on Nickelodeon called, “Drama Club.” She was cast as a cheerleader, allowing her to show off dance, tumble and cheer skills.
Next up, Bezler was selected to dance for the celebrity rapper/comedian Lil Dicky in his Hulu series, “DAVE,” on the season 2 finale, which aired in August.
As Bezler describes it, “To end the year with a bang, I auditioned for a New Year’s Eve gig at the Aria in Las Vegas, which happened to be the show that opened up for Bruno Mars, and I booked it. I was selected to stay on stage and dance alongside him before and after he counted down to the New Year. The job itself included long 10-hour rehearsal days, 6 production pieces which included 5- to 7-minute choreography for each piece — and a lot of hair, makeup and fun! It was so cool to perform in such a diverse show — I went from doing hip-hop, to jazz, to lyrical, to contemporary, to partnering, to heels work, etc. It was great being able to open up the New Year doing what I love the most — and that is performing.”
Yes. Huge deal. Amazing work, Bezler. Your hometown is proud of you.
