Community. That’s the feeling the Village of Chapin hopes to accomplish with its upcoming Chapin Summer Bash.
The event will be the first summer event held by the village in 10 years (when Chapin Big Country Days ended its run). The Board of Trustees decided to bring back a summer celebration to give the residents a place to interact and bond. They are hoping that Chapin’s Summer Bash on Saturday, August 24 will do just that.
The day will begin at 10 a.m. with vendors opening and a youth pedal tractor pull competition. At 11 a.m., food and beer service will begin. Attendees can find pulled pork, hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad, baked beans, dessert and beverages served inside Chapin’s American Legion at 534 Superior, all for a free will donation.
Along with food and drink, games will make their start at 11 a.m. — I Doo’d It, bounce houses and Chapin Volunteer Fire Department’s Firehouse Games will surely entertain adults and kids alike. Chapin will also showcase its fine youth with pageants also beginning at 11 a.m.
After such a fun-filled morning, guests will want to stick around in the afternoon! At 1 p.m., there will be a talent showcase with Jacksonville’s Drumline Institute plus Triopia Poms and Cheer squads performing. Also beginning at 1 p.m. is a bags tournament, so grab some friends and compete! Home Depot will be on the scene with a fun workshop for the kids at 1 p.m., too.
The evening will kick off with Exit 52, playing at 4 p.m. Brushville will then take the stage at 7 p.m. It will be an evening jam-packed with incredible entertainment!
West Central Mass Transit District will be providing a bus to transport individuals from Jacksonville to the Chapin Summer Bash that evening for only $7 round trip! The pickup location in Jacksonville is at the Morgan County Fairgrounds. The bus will continuously run from 3-11 p.m. This is a wonderful option as parking at the Chapin Summer Bash will be pretty limited!
