Dreams can come true

Dreams can come true

by Eric A. Thomas

As the school year gets started, many things are being changed, altered, postponed, or unfortunately canceled. One local tradition may have undergone some changes, but 50 lucky people will still have a chance to have some dreams come true.

Routt Catholic High School (RCHS) and Our Saviour School (OSS) are hosting the 27th annual Dreams drawings and the event will culminate on Sunday, September 6 at 6 p.m., giving away $170,750. The proceeds from the ticket sales go to each school’s operating budget for the year. A total of 4,300 tickets will be sold and, at the time of writing this article, just over 600 tickets remain. The tickets are $100 each.

Tickets can be purchased through any of the 20 ticket agents serving on the Dreams committee, the RCHS or OSS main offices, the Dreams office located inside the Our Saviour Parish office, CNB Bank & Trust and The Farmers State Bank and Trust Co. Additionally, you can purchase online at www.rchsossdreams.com. On August 2, an early-bird drawing was held with Peg McGrath receiving the top prize of $10,000; the 10:30 Elks Coffee Club receiving $2,000; and Heidi Koeppel, Becky Strope, and Diane Bates each receiving $1,000. The September drawing will give away the top prizes of $100,000, $40,000, and $10,000 to three lucky individuals; seven people will win $1,000 each; 15 people will take home $500 each and 25 people will pocket $250 each.

In the past the drawings have been held at the end of the Family Fun Festival, but due to COVID-19, that unfortunately had to change. “We will be holding the drawing remotely this year; it will be live on the radio per usual and also will be presented through a Facebook live through our Facebook page, RCHS/OSS Dreams,” commented Maggie Peterson, Dreams Co-Chair. “In these final days of ticket sales, we are hoping to see the number of tickets sold rise as the agents turn in tickets and people utilize the various locations to buy their chance to become richer.” Serving as Co-Chair with Maggie is Joe Horabik.

The Dreams committee would like to thank their many corporate-level sponsors. Giving at the $1,000 level are CNB Bank & Trust, EnviroVac, The Farmers State Bank and Trust Co., H&R Block, Robert and Judy Johnson, and Larry and Martha Flynn. At the $500 level: Bartlett Grain Company, Bob and Carolyn Bonjean, Brandt, State Representative CD Davidsmeyer, Cors Electric, Edward Jones, First National Bank, Graham & Hyde Architects, Haas Plumbing, Knights of Columbus, Leach • Remmers, Matt Martin Consulting, Perma-Bound, Quigg Engineering, Quick Lane Car Wash, Turner Painting and Construction, Bob Ridings Westown Ford and Williamson Airsman-Hires Funeral Homes. Also, listed on their website, are 25 sponsors giving at the $250 level. “Through the generosity of everyone who purchases a ticket and through our corporate sponsorships, we are assuring a quality education for each and every student that attends Routt and Our Saviour,” concluded Peterson.

The Dreams office can be reached at 217-243-1632 and is located at 453 E. State Street. The Dreams committee consists of RCHS/OSS parents, alumni, church members and parents of alumni.
