To the Editor and Community

2014 is the 67th Anniversary of the Marine Corps National Toys for Tots Program and the 34th consecutive year for the local program sponsored by the West Central Illinois Leathernecks Marine Corps League Detachment #1177 and the Jacksonville Area Marines. Toys for Tots is a nation wide program aimed at giving less fortunate children a happier Christmas.

The West Central Illinois Marine Corps League #1177 and the Jacksonville Area Marines have built the Program into a well-known, highly professional all volunteer organization.

We appreciate the Community support of both donations of toys that go directly to the benefit of local children and the money received which stays in our community.

As in the past years many local former-Marines give much of their spare time during the Christmas Season. Through last year’s contributions over 1100 less fortunate children    ages 2 through 16 came to the annual party, met Santa and enjoyed cake, milk, and soda.  Children received gifts, coloring books, crayons, candy, fruit and stocking stuffers. This year with additional needs we anticipate serving more children.

We collect only toys and with your help we will have another successful year. Look for the Toys For Tots toy collection boxes in many area businesses.

Please remember the joys of Christmas and send your generous donation to:

All donations are now held and distributed by the Toys for Tots Foundation. Donations are deposited and credited to our local account. The Foundation does not utilize any of the locally collected funds. Corporate Sponsors help the Foundation provide local Units with posters, advertising materials, cases of new toys, and other materials. If you have any questions or suggestions, please call or send us your concerns. Please visit our web site;; sponsored by the Toys for Tots Foundation for even more information.

Thank you, Tim Ritzo
