Plastic eggs with hidden prizes, hot dogs, pictures with the Easter Bunny, and raffles for kids and adults drew several hundred people to Minnie Barr Park on April 6 for the third annual egg hunt sponsored by Crisis Center Foundation.
The event, at 300 E. Walnut St., was cohosted by Morgan County Family Violence Council, Humble Horizons Inc. and Jacksonville Police Department, with help from the Citizens Police Academy Alumni group.
Between hunting for eggs and eating lunch, families enjoyed pick-up basketball games and the park’s playground equipment. However, the egg hunt was the star of the day, with children up to age 12 scouring the park grass, fence line, playground equipment and picnic tables for the prized orbs.
The park’s namesake, Minnie Scott Barr, operated Barr’s Laundry until 1944. She died in 1966 at age 81.
