This simple dessert is sure to be a new favorite. With a buttery crust as the base, combined with toffee and chocolate flavors, the only thing that makes this dessert tastier is a scoop of vanilla ice cream.
Ingredients:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup pecans, coarsely chopped
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Toffee
- 2/3 cup butter
- 1/3 cup packed brown sugar
Directions:
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
- In a mixing bowl combine flour and brown sugar. Using a pastry blender cut in the butter until fine crumbs form. Press into the bottom of a 13 x 9 inch pan and sprinkle pecans over the top.
- In a small saucepan, combine toffee ingredients. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until mixture comes to a boil. Continue stirring and let boil 30 seconds.
- Pour toffee over bars and bake for 20-22 minutes, or until surface is lightly golden and bubbly.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle with chocolate chips. Let the chocolate melt and then spread evenly over pan.
- Let bars cool before cutting and serving.
