Fun for all

Community. The locals. Moments of fun had by people we know or with whom we are familiar … that’s some good stuff. Friday nights on the downtown square of Jacksonville welcomes all to the free Oakleaf Crypto Tech Concert Series, beginning at 5:45 p.m. on each Friday through the end of July (except for July 13, when there is a week off in the series). Have some fun yourself. Heck, there’s pleasure simply in witnessing the fun had by others around you. Drop by some of the downtown businesses during the break between opener and headliner: Rhonda at Just Good Trade is celebrating her 5-year anniversary of her fair trade store (and offering discounts to celebrate); Christine and the staff at Illinois Theater welcome you to drop in and buy some theater popcorn even if you’re not really going to see a movie there until another day in the near future (for those of you who didn’t know this could be done … welp, you’re welcome – movie theater popcorn is the best); Schiraz has evening hours on the weekends, so don’t forget to ‘get Shiraz over there’ to enjoy some of their specialty dishes or say, a lemon drop martini; plus, you may have already smelled the smells of freshly made artisan breads coming at “Baked,” the newest addition to downtown Jacksonville.
