Routt Catholic’s Anderson, Baptist sign to play across town at Illinois College

Two recent graduates of Routt Catholic High School in Jacksonville have signed letters of intent to play sports at Illinois College.
Isaac Anderson, the son of Mike and Kim Anderson of Jacksonville, will be attending Illinois College in the fall as a member of their men’s golf team.
Anderson was an Illinois State Scholar and finished his high school academic career at Routt Catholic High School with a GPA of 4.228. He was named captain of the Routt golf team his senior year after qualifying for the sectional and state golf tournaments his junior year. In addition to participating in golf at RCHS, Anderson was a member of the boys’ basketball team.
Daxton Baptist, the son of Brian and Jennifer Baptist of Jacksonville, will be attending Illinois College in the fall to play football. Baptist was an Illinois State Scholar and finished his high school academic career at Routt Catholic High School with a GPA of 4.011.
While at Routt, Baptist set school records in football for career receiving yards (1,564), career receptions (111), single season receiving yards (789) and single season receptions (48).
He was selected as a member of the 1st Team WIVC All-Conference and also earned Academic All-State honors based on his work on the gridiron and the classroom this past fall. In addition to playing football for the Rockets, Baptist was a member of the sectional champion baseball team.
