Health with the Hamels

An introduction to the Hamels

By Justin and Clara Hamel

First, let us introduce ourselves. We are Justin and Clara Hamel. Justin is a Doctor of Chiropractic (DC) with a master’s degree in sports science and rehabilitation.

He has a passion for manual and regenerative medicine and has diligently worked to grow and refine his knowledge base on these subjects over the last 15 years in practice.

Clara is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with a passion for the connection between mental and physical health and longevity. Her interest in this topic has led to thousands of hours of research and coursework in integrative mental health care and functional nutrition and supplementation.

Through Justin’s former chiropractic office, and Clara’s mental health therapy practice, we have noticed a trend in our society. The trend includes neglecting self-care, overburdening our minds and bodies, and then accepting the mental and physical health issues that result as a part of life.

Our wish is to help others recognize this way of life as faulty, to embrace the truth, and move toward overall wellness and improved quality of life. To accomplish this, we are combining our talents and passions in a multidisciplinary longevity and wellness clinic in Jacksonville.

The alarming increase in cancer, auto-immune disorders, inflammatory disease, mystery illness and mental health issues indicate our current model of health is no longer adequate. However, we truly believe that we are entering a golden age of medicine in which treatment and prevention will look at the whole person, how we nourish our bodies, and how we care for our mental, physical and emotional wellbeing.

The new forefront of medicine will combine age-old knowledge, scientific study, groundbreaking technology and patient empowerment to assist in healing and maintaining wellness.

We were given the opportunity to share our knowledge and passion in a weekly article, and our hope is that we can help educate and give actionable strategies for readers to incorporate in daily life.

We have found that the most difficult step for people in beginning or continuing their wellness journey is often the next step. We want to assist with that next step and show that often small steps toward improving mental and physical health can create large impacts.

With that being said, we realize it is easy for health and wellness information to become convoluted and overwhelming, so we would like to provide simple, evidence-based, actionable steps and information.

Beginning next week, we will start to cover a range of topics impacting health and wellbeing by diving into a series on nutrition. During this series, we will discuss nutrient dense superfoods to incorporate daily, share delicious recipes and include easy steps to increase mindful eating.
