Born and raised, and living there to this day, Courtney Rayborn is proud to be from Mt. Sterling. She’s also profoundly happy to be a part of the Prairieland FS family. Currently, Rayborn works for Prairieland as their energy marketing and communications assistant and has been there since finishing up college. Rayborn decided on Prairieland FS because she wanted a position that would not only put her degree in graphic design to good use, but also would give her an opportunity to take on a larger amount of responsibility. Rayborn says she loves her job and has a passion for helping others, a passion she chases on the side as a volunteer firefighter. If she is not doing something related to work, Rayborn is doing something related to firefighting – a passion shared with her husband and high school sweetheart, Austin Rayborn. Alongside her husband, Courtney Rayborn goes out to calls as a volunteer firefighter, but if she’s is not on a call, she is usually training in some way to better herself and prepare for the next one. Rayborn also leads an explore group for teenagers to help give them their first hands-on experience with emergency services and plays around with her two very spoiled golden retrievers. With all her extra endeavors, our question asking about book selections if a person were stranded on an island (for what seems would be a much-deserved break from her normal hustle and bustle) received an appropriate response. Apparently, she is not that picky and says she would be set to lounge on the beach with any good mystery or romance novel. Still, in a world where money doesn’t matter, and all her time was free, Rayborn says she would build a new house out in the country and start her own graphic design business from home. While Rayborn might be enticed to have her own graphic design company, her heart is clearly with firefighting because for her pick of a super power, Rayborn crafted a mix of powers that would turn her into the ultimate firefighter: a blend of the ability to fly, immunity to fire and the ability to shoot water or foam from her hands. Anyway, if you’re out and about, stop on by Prairieland FS and tell Rayborn “hi.”
