The 57th Prairie Land Heritage Museum Steam Show & Fall Festival Days was yet another 3-day weekend of outdoor farming-focused fun.

This year’s Sept. 25-27 event in South Jacksonville celebrated Case steam engines and Oliver tractors.

While it definitely has a farm/agricultural feel, the event offers so much more. Family-friendly and a bit nostalgic, the Steam Show & Fall Festival Days provided event-goers an opportunity to check out daily demonstrations of sorghum/molasses production, plowing, threshing, corn shelling and more.

Tractors of every type and year were lined up in the northeast section of the event grounds, allowing people to see a bit of the past and the present.

A large flea market, displays galore, the blacksmith shop and reenactments at the log cabin were also on the to-do list.

Near the large children’s area, one gained access to a train ride that chugged around the corn maze and passed by an antique tractor pull or garden tractor pull, for example.

The Yatesville School, log cabin and Liberty Church were open to learn a bit more history, too.

It was yet another great event — with food vendors and the coveted steam engine-cooked ham & beans ready to fuel the fun.
