Jacksonville Sunrise Rotary Club’s annual Mother’s Day geranium sale sets new record

The Jacksonville Sunrise Rotary Club announces a new record has been set in their annual Mother’s Day geranium sale. Sonie Smith, the club geranium sale coordinator, reported to the club at the April 27 meeting that club members sold 416 single potted geraniums this year. The total number of geraniums sold last year was 218, making this year’s totals nearly a 91% increase in sales over last year. The club realizes two dollars for each geranium sold, bringing this year’s total to $832.

“I have no good solid explanation why we did so well this year,” Smith remarked. “Maybe everyone is in a better mood after a year of pandemic lockdown.”

Special thanks to Joey Henry and everyone from Jacksonville (noon) Rotary Club for their help on this project. The annual geranium sale serves as both a mini fundraiser and as a service project.

Sunrise Rotary Club meets every Tuesday morning at the Holiday Inn Express in South Jacksonville at 7 a.m.
