More than 40 athletes from both Pathway Services and Elm City Center completed a spirited one-mile walk at Fitness World Health Club in Jacksonville on November 18, cheered on by an enthusiastic crowd of over 20 supporters.

The event, held on the facility’s indoor track, challenged participants to complete 13 laps, the equivalent of one mile. Instructor and emcee Ryne Turke led the program, encouraging walkers throughout the roughly 20-minute race.

Several members of Elm City Center and Pathway staff also took part and helped participants around the track.

All participants had been training for about four weeks leading up to the event. The atmosphere was upbeat from start to finish, with family, staff and community members lining the track to offer applause, signs of encouragement, high fives and motivation.

Every walker who crossed the finish line received a medal in recognition of their training, effort and achievement.

The annual event continues to highlight the importance of inclusive fitness opportunities and the strong partnerships between local service organizations and recreation spaces in the Jacksonville area.
