Local celebrities. Amazing piano music. For 480 minutes straight. What’s it all about? It’s about giving.
Giving back, that is. Not just to the musicians, and not just to their friends – but to the library.
Those familiar with the Jacksonville Public Library’s Under the Dome concert series know about the library’s outstanding musical contributions to Jacksonville. But only those behind the scenes of the concert series know of some of the difficulties involved. How does one bring beautiful music to the community when there’s no main instrument under the library dome, namely, a piano?
They’ve tried keyboards. They’ve tried bringing in acoustic. With low quality on the former, and high expense on latter, it’s time for a solution. This Christmas, the Soap Co. Coffee House and The Source are teaming up to create a musical event to raise the funds to purchase a piano for the library – in essence, a Christmas gift to the institution that exists to give back to the community. With all they’ve given to us, it’s our turn to give to them.
The lineup of performers on December 3 includes Ken Bradbury, Tyler Maul, Caleb Holaway, Bill Meier, Anna Ferraro, Tim Chipman, Sherri Mitchell and more. And you’re invited to join them.
So sometime in the span of the 480 minutes from 8 a.m. – 4 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, drop by the Soap Co. at 66 East Central Park, and make your tax-deductible gift to the Jacksonville Public Library. All proceeds will go toward purchasing a piano locally through the services of Boyd Music.
And while you’re there, enjoy some coffee. Enjoy some music. Most of all, enjoy the season of giving – because that’s what the #480-Minute Miracle is all about.
