Lape honored with named pavilion

The Rotary Club of Jacksonville was honored to dedicate “The Rotary Club of Jacksonville Lape Pavilion” at Lake Jacksonville on October 2.

In attendance were many current and past club members, friends of the club, Rotary district leadership, representatives of the City of Jacksonville, and bass fishermen.

Keith Lape, a longtime Rotarian, inaugurated and organized the local Rotary Bass Tournament for many years. The club is pleased to honor his past and ongoing efforts to support the club and community.

The pavilion serves as a permanent venue for fishing tournaments, educational events, fundraisers and community gathering, and will host The Rotary Club of Jacksonville’s annual fishing tournament — now in its 27th year. It will also be available to other nonprofits for their events.

The pavilion was paid for with funds from the Jacksonville Rotary Club Foundation, a Rotary District 6460 grant, in-kind contributions, and city support for utilities and furnishings.

The pavilion is located at 2193 New Lake Rd. in Jacksonville, near the boat launch and concession stand.
