A Memorial Day service was held Monday, May 27 at 11 a.m. in Community Park. Lieutenant Colonel Matthew Dodsworth was the speaker for this year’s service; Dodsworth grew up in Jacksonville. Memorial Day is a U.S. federal holiday observed to honor and mourn U.S. military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Flags were installed for Memorial Day in Community Park by the Jacksonville Lions Club Avenue of Flags.
