Morgan County Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA Program To Host “Pinwheel Planting” and Awareness Event

Morgan County Children’s Advocacy Center and CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates), programs of Advocacy Network for Children, will host an awareness event and plant pinwheels in honor of April being National Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month. The event will take place on the south side of the square in Jacksonville on Tuesday, April 5th at 12:30 p.m. Mayor Andy Ezard will read a proclamation and a representative from the Morgan County State’s Attorney’s office will speak. Local businesses, agencies and organizations in the county, as well as the general public, are invited to attend.

National Child Abuse Awareness and Prevention Month recognizes the importance of families and communities working together to prevent child abuse and neglect and promotes the social and emotional well-being of children and families. During the month of April, as well as throughout the year, communities are encouraged to increase awareness and provide education and support to families through resources and strategies to prevent child abuse and neglect. By rallying our neighbors, businesses, schools, friends and families, we can make a difference in the lives of these children.

In addition to this awareness event, the agency is also selling “Stand Against Child Abuse” yard signs for $10.00 which can be purchased at the Jacksonville County Market through the end of April.
