Mr. John’s School of Cosmetology has recently held “Beauty Boot Camp” sessions for girls ages 7-9 (“Bee-uties”), ages 10-12 (“Glamgirls”) and ages 13-18 (“Divas”). During the various camps, girls learned an array of techniques, including hair braiding, upstyles, cornrows, and hair care basics using the mannequins.  Manicures, pedicures and how to apply airbrush stenciling or glitter tattoos were also part of the boot camp “training.” Additionally, the girls created t-shirts they took home and made their own “Fresh-squeezed Lemonade” sugar scrub under the direction of Andrea Staples, Marketing Director and Instructor at Mr. John’s. Staples explained that the scrub is something anyone can make at home – the recipe calls for only sugar, baby oil, corn syrup, lemon zest and lemon juice. One of the campers was overheard saying, “My mom would just love this. My hands feel soooooo good.”
