Rotary Club Thank You

To the Editor:

Jacksonville Sunrise Rotarian Don Pigg weighed his large Chevy pickup and then headed for the Jacksonville County Market on Saturday morning, April 9. He returned to the truck scale in the early afternoon, and the weight difference was 500 pounds. That’s the weight of the food collected in four hours of Sunrise Rotary’s second annual Food Raiser service project. The Rotary volunteers were collecting non-perishable food items for The Salvation Army food distribution program.

In addition to the non-perishable food items, $152.75 in cash donations was also dropped into The Salvation Army Red Kettle.

Many thanks go out to the management and staff of Jacksonville County Market for providing a venue for this important project. With all the uncertainties worldwide and here at home, both Jacksonville County Market and The Salvation Army have been standard bearers, doing their jobs, serving the community. Many people in our area noticed and on Saturday, April 9 they stepped up to help. We can’t thank them enough.

Jane Becker, President
