The Winter Celebration event held on February 21 by Routt Catholic High School marked its 22nd year as a cherished tradition dedicated not to fundraising, but to gratitude.
Established more than two decades ago as a way to thank the donors, supporters, families and friends who have shaped Routt Catholic into what it is today, the evening once again fulfilled its mission: to celebrate community without asking for anything in return.
This year’s event honored several individuals whose dedication and service have made a lasting impact on the school and its mission.
Fred Monroe, of White Hall, was named Routt Ambassador, recognized for his steadfast support to the Routt community. The Friend of Routt award was presented to Terry Chumley ’74 and Kyle Chumley for their continued generosity and involvement. Angela Davis received the Catholic Education Distinguished Service award for her meaningful contributions to Catholic education.
Mark Rood was honored with the Merilyn Merris Distinguished Service award, celebrating his dedication and service to the school. The Young Alum of the Year award was presented to Patrick Langdon ’07, while Chad Schone ’11 was recognized as Alum of the Year; both were honored for their achievements and continued connection to their alma mater.
A highlight of the evening was the presentation of the Lifetime Achievement award to Patrick W. Gibson ’89. Gibson recently retired after 27 years as Routt Catholic’s head volleyball coach, finishing his remarkable career with a 516-416 record. While stepping away from volleyball, he will continue coaching bowling and teaching, ensuring his influence remains strong within the Routt community.
The RCHS Winter Celebration once again reflected the deep gratitude Routt Catholic holds for the incredible people behind its enduring success.
