Art association event planned for April 27
Sarah Beth May, the 2023 Beaux Arts Ball queen, will crown her successor at this year’s Ball, “Summer in Santorini,” on Saturday, April 27. The reigning queen is the daughter of Greg and Elizabeth May of Jacksonville and the granddaughter of Terry and Mary Beth Airsman, Curry May and Linda May, all of Jacksonville.
Sarah Beth May is a 2019 graduate of Jacksonville High School and 2023 graduate of University of Missouri where she earned her Bachelor of Science in marketing, with and emphasis in entrepreneurship and a minor in fashion.
While at Mizzou, May was very involved with her sorority, Delta, Delta, Delta. During her sophomore and junior years, she served as marketing assistant for the sorority and also served as the sorority’s apparel chair. Throughout her college years, May was active in fundraising for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
May is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Jacksonville.
May participated in three previous Beaux Arts Balls. She was a flower girl in 2007’s “Golden Gala,” a junior attendant in 2015’s “Lasting Legacy” and a senior maid in “A Night with the Royals” in 2019.
Her parents are life members of The Art Association of Jacksonville. Her mother is currently serving on the association’s board of directors and was co-chairman of the 2019 Beaux Arts Ball, “A Night with the Royals.”
Sarah Beth May lives in St. Louis. She works at Cushman & Wakefield as a transitions analyst on the Transitions and Quality Control Team, where she assists in onboarding and offboarding properties.
Patron and general tickets will be available online at strawnartgallery.org and at Illinois College Rammelkamp Chapel prior to the Beaux Arts Ball on Saturday, April 27, where the coronation will begin at 7 p.m. Immediately following the coronation at Rammelkamp Chapel will be entertainment by Trio de Groove and hors d’oeuvres at Jacksonville Country Club. Patron tickets are $50 and include admission to the reception, coronation and dance, while general tickets are $10 and include the coronation and champagne reception. An interpreter will be available upon request at the coronation for persons who are Deaf or hearing impaired as well as handicap seating.
