The 2025 Scott County 4-H and Jr. Fair was able to beat the 90+ degree temperatures throughout July 21-25. Young 4-H leaders and local young people of agriculture demonstrated some of the area’s best animals and crafts that Scott County has to offer.
Things kicked off on July 21 with a couple of disappointing announcements: ground conditions caused the rodeo and mutton busting to get canceled. However, the day trekked forward with swine, sheep and goat weigh-ins in the afternoon and the 4th annual Scott County Fair pageant in the evening.
The pageant winners of the evening were 2025 Miss Scott County Kylie Clayton, 2025 Junior Miss Scott County Maura Moore and 2025 Little Miss Scott County Carly Schnelten. It was the first time in the pageant’s history they have crowned a Junior Miss winner.
On July 22, the heat started to set in but the young ag leaders would not be daunted. Swine, flower arrangements, gardening and crops, llamas, poultry and arts and crafts were all shown and judged throughout the afternoon.
The big entertainment Tuesday night was the pedal tractor pull and the talent competition. Several awards were also given away to area 4-H students Tuesday evening.
Wednesday night had more judging of livestock, mostly highlighted by the goat, sheep, rabbit and cat judging. Wednesday evening’s main entertainment was the annual horse show and the master showmanship competition in the ring.
Thursday was time for the big boys to take the stage with the beef show and the annual livestock auction. Despite the long days in the heat, many smiles and blue ribbons were passed around in a well attended fair this year.
