Readers looking for lust in all the right places showed up for a spicy romance book fair at The Vault in downtown Jacksonville on Thursday, May 8.
The axe-throwing venue had tables full of unmentionable titles and items as well as a visit from cardboard Pablo Pascal.
Self-described spicy romance author M.M. Alderson was a special guest signing copies of her various books. Alderson, who is a U.S. military veteran, says in her biography that she dove heavily into reading while recovering from a traumatic brain injury during deployment. The recovery and reading escape caused her to create a notebook leading to her writing career. The career has spawned the Club Sin series, which currently has four books released. The fourth book in the series came out April 30. Alderson nearly sold out of the stock she brought with her to the show.
According to Our Town Books owner Khristina Helmich, the book was responsible for over 300 books sold, which helped raise $400 for the Crisis Center Foundation. “We will absolutely have another romance book fair and already have plans to have one huge dark romance table added for next time,” Helmich said the day after. Helmich says other themed book fairs also may be in the works soon.
