The early morning rain on Saturday, June 8 did not deter entries in the Jacksonville Downtown Car Show & Summer Cruise, put on by nonprofit Morton Avenue Misfits.
All years and models were welcomed to take part in the car show that featured more than 20 judged classes. Downtown Jacksonville’s square was filled with vehicles of all sorts for spectators to admire.
Additional features of the 8 a.m.-3 p.m. car show included specialty vendors on-site, unique raffle prizes, food trucks, a raffle for a one-of-a-kind modified golf cart, kids Hot Wheels drag racing and custom first-place awards for entrants.
The cruise portion of the event ran from 5-9 p.m., with headquarters at Hardee’s. During the cruise, those interested could show off their vehicles on the cruise route along Morton Avenue, from Main Street to Lincoln Avenue cross streets.
Proceeds from this event go to local charities. The Morton Ave Misfits will hold their 40th anniversary Fall Cruise Night on Saturday, Sept. 21.
