Becky and Dave Owens had a first class reception to South Jacksonville on Thursday, December 7. They were met at the 1-72 overpass by South Jacksonville police and fire vehicles, and escorted to their home. There they were received by friends from the Mom LIFE group who supported Becky during her husband’s nearly year-long deployment to the Middle East.
Staff Sgt. Dave Owens served with the 1-138th Infantry of the Missouri Army National Guard. His unit was deployed to Qatar, where they were involved with security operations. While he was deployed, Dave could occasionally video chat with his wife and their sons: Carter, 4, and Bryson, 2. Part of Becky’s support structures was friends from Mom LIFE, a group that meets at First Christian Church and is affiliated with MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers) International.
Her friends put up a welcome home sign, decorations that were pounded into their frozen lawn and waved American flags at their arrival.
Mom LIFE meets the first and third Mondays of each month at First Christian Church. The times for each Monday are 9-11 a.m. and 5:30-7:30 p.m., respectively.
