I would like the chance to express my appreciation to the many people that make Western Illinois Youth Camp such a great place. The WIYC board, volunteers, staff, parents, campers and other guests bring so much energy, action and ownership to camp.
At Western Illinois Youth Camp, we have the fun of hosting weddings, reunions, camps and more. WIYC is a place to learn and enjoy time in nature. In the year 2016, we had educational programs about trees, fish, birds, adaptations for humans and wildlife. Turn-Page Tuesday was a big hit during the summer due to our staff, volunteers and campers.
I am very grateful to be a part of a camp that is connected to the local community. Being a part of WIYC, I have worked with various churches, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, local Audubon, Illinois Tree Farmers, EPA, JACIL, New Directions, Camp Courage, Illinois College, MacMurray College, District 117, Big Brothers Big Sisters, Kiwanis and the Jacksonville Area Senior Center.
Due to all of these community camp connections and more, I received the honor of the Paul Harris Fellow recognition through Rotary this fall. I am humbled by this award and thankful to be a part of a service-focused community.
As 2016 draws to an end, I look forward to all the great things that will be a part of 2017 for Jacksonville and WIYC.
Thank you Jacksonville community,
Western Illinois Youth Camp
See you at Camp!
