Woodhaven Hospice Festival of Trees and Wreaths

It’s that time of the year again! For almost 28 years now, Woodhaven Volunteer Hospice and Special Support Services’ Festival of Trees and Wreaths have provided our community with affordable holiday entertainment for all ages. The festival features beautifully designed trees, wreaths, centerpieces and swags, and trees decorated by our local schools and children’s organizations. This year, there are 17 designer trees, 18 children’s trees, and 50 designer wreaths, centerpieces and door decorations for this year’s holiday season. In addition to the decorated trees and wreaths upstairs, the festival also offers a variety of activities downstairs. An assortment of food items will be available for purchase: Festi-Burgers, chili, baked goods, candy and popcorn. Also, a kid’s craft corner will be up and running. Throughout the festival, local performers will provide entertainment on the following days: Friday, November 18 at 5:30 p.m., Rod Nicholson; Saturday, November 19 at 10 a.m., Turner Jr. High Choir; 11 a.m., Carlo San Paulo and Johnny; 1 p.m., Sunshine Singers; 4 p.m., Tyler Maul; and 5 p.m., Isaiah Christian. The Festival of Trees and Wreaths is held at the Masonic Center, 345 W. College Ave., in Jacksonville and will run Friday, November 18 from 5-8 p.m., Saturday, November 19 from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. and Sunday, November 20 from noon-2:30 p.m. The cost for admission is $4.00 for adults, $2.00 for students, and $1.00 for children under the age of six. The auction of these unique trees and wreaths will begin at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday and if you cannot attend the auction, pre-bidding will be available during the Festival. If you do purchase a tree, Woodhaven will be happy to deliver it for you first thing Monday morning, November 21. Proceeds from the Festival of Trees and Wreaths benefit Woodhaven Volunteer Hospice and Special Supports Services, which has been serving Morgan County since 1989. Woodhaven Hospice provides loving support, education and bereavement services to terminally ill individuals and their families. Woodhaven takes great pride in announcing Jerri Hurrelbrink of Winchester as the Festival of Trees and Wreaths Honorary Chairperson this year.
