Several Jacksonville Waterskiers placed at the 2017 Goode Water Ski National Championships, which was held August 9-12 at San Marcos River Ranch in San Marcos, Texas.

This was Ben Leutz’s first National Jump Championship win and Kelly Zoellner’s first Open Women’s Overall Championship win. Kelly is also the reigning World Senior Women’s Jump Champion.
Team Illinois finished in 4th place. This team consisted of the top skiers in Illinois: five juniors, five women and five men. All of the Jacksonville water-skiers were members of the team and contributed in the points that resulted in Team Illinois to get 4th place.
The Midwest Junior All Star Team, which consisted of seven junior skiers from the Midwest, received 1st place. Jon Leutz was a member of the team.
Ben Leutz was also invited to participate in the Pro Night jump event on Saturday that was to be held on the sight after the conclusion of the nations. Ben finished in 6th place, while Freddy Krueger, who is originally from Decatur, Illinois, finished in 1st.
