After a hiatus of one year due to the pandemic, Concord will be bringing back their fall fish fry. On Saturday, August 14 the citizens of Concord invite you to come and enjoy the parade, vendors, the kid’s area, great food and entertainment.
The event will begin with set up for the day of all food and craft vendors at 8 AM. Food vendors are asked to stay until 7 PM and craft vendors are asked to keep their displays out until 4 PM. There will be a fee for all vendors and people interested in taking part are encouraged to contact Tina Miller at firstname.lastname@example.org for further details.
The parade will kick off at 9:30 AM and will begin on Railroad Street. The route will head down Morgan Street, then East Street, turn west onto Main, North on Pine, and back to the east down Locust. All interested entries are encouraged to send their information to enter via the events email at email@example.com.
The main food event in community park will begin at 11 AM. They will serve a catfish or buffalo plate meal complete with homemade potato chips, coleslaw and drink. The cost of the meal will be $7 for the Buffalo meal and $8 for the Catfish meal. They will continue serving until supplies run out.
At 11 AM the Jacksonville Drumline Institute will be performing. This organization was started in 2018 by Chip Davis and features the talents of area youth from sixth grade to post high school. “They performed in our talent show a couple of years ago and impressed everyone,” stated Katie McDannald, event coordinator. The members of the group have a variety of percussion experience and are quite entertaining to watch.
The main entertainment this year will be the Devin Clemons Band. They are a country band from central Illinois with a popular following. You can read more and follow them on Facebook and you can hear samples on YouTube. There is no charge for this concert, and they will be performing from 6-8 p.m.
In addition to the food and craft vendors there will be a children’s area with inflatable slides and face painting. The event will take place in and around the community park in Concord.
