Introducing the Lazy Laker

Introducing the Lazy Laker

What has wheels and offers menu selections other than your typical items available at most eateries about town? It is the latest food choice to hit the area and it is called Lazy Laker.

Owned by Pietro and Megan Alfano, Lazy Laker is a food truck that features Mediterranean and American food. They opened May 7. “We wanted to focus on serving the people out at Lake Jacksonville,” commented Megan Alfano. “Everyone out there seems to be laid-back about everything. That is how we came up with the name Lazy Laker.” As they are just getting started, they are open Friday through Sunday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Hours are subject to change once it is determined what is more beneficial for the customers.

Pietro Alfano has had a dream of starting a food truck business for many years and when the opportunity presented itself, the Alfanos decided to take the leap. “We both have other jobs and businesses that we own, but couldn’t pass up this opportunity,” they added. Working in the community is something that the Alfanos love and they hope that this opportunity will only enhance that desire. While they are focusing their energy in establishing Lazy Laker out at Lake Jacksonville, they are expecting a baby girl in July and after that may entertain bookings for private parties, festivals and hometown celebrations.

In designing their overall menu, simplicity was key to provide what the public wanted. The selections include: two different sub sandwiches – the meatball sub and the cheesesteak sub, Lazy Laker Dog – a jumbo hot dog with choice of your

favorite toppings (they also have an Italian version), Gyro; nachos and loaded nachos, walking tacos and walking meatballs, slice of Leo’s Pizza pizza, Italian gelato, snow cones, Italian ice freeze pops, canned soda, bottled water and chips.

For the Alfanos, each of their extended families have worked in the restaurant industry their whole lives. They consider themselves very fortunate to have great role models and support systems helping to get Lazy Laker up and running. “We are so excited for this opportunity and to be able to share it with our community. The support we’ve already experienced has been amazing and we can’t wait to see what the summer brings,” concluded Megan Alfano.

They are located at the Lake Jacksonville boat docks. They can be reached at 217-461-0708 or lazylakerllc@gmail.com. Please follow them on Facebook at Lazy Laker, LLC for all the latest updates.
