Details: Rededication to honor the 13 young men of Morgan County who died in the Vietnam War and to pay tribute their Gold Star families. This is a historic happening as it has been 29 years since the last formal ceremony was held at the site. It is also an extraordinary occasion as prior to this endeavor, many of the 13 Gold Star families have never met, let alone been invited to gather and participate in such a special commemoration. This event is free and the public is cordially invited to attend. Lawn chairs are recommended.

Details: This annual cleanup, normally in June, allows Jacksonville residents to dispose of unwanted household items by dropping them off at the Street Department at 200 West Oak.  Identification will be required. Prohibited items include hazardous waste, liquids, motor oil or paint (dried or solidified), concrete, rocks and dirt, batteries, and tires. Landscape waste (brush, grass, leaves or limbs) is not accepted at the Cleanup Site, but can be dropped off at the Brush Drop-Off Site.
