Trilogy Challenge Disc Golf tournament

Jacksonville’s Disc Golf Course at Foreman Grove officially opened in May of 2014 and held an inaugural event for the new course on Sunday, August 17. Illinois College incoming junior Nathan Zimmerman organized the “Trilogy Challenge” tournament (so-named for the three disc companies that supported the tourney), while the majority of the course itself was designed by Caleb Harris. The idea of creating a disc golf course was primarily the brainchild of Zimmerman, Harris and other MacMurray or Illinois College students – plus help from a few “more aged” disc golf enthusiasts. The Jacksonville Park Foundation also assisted with fundraising. Zimmerman said 44 registrants signed up for the tournament on the course consisting of 9 holes, or “baskets.” The winner was Tim Palmer, who shot a par for the course with a score of 29. Second place was Caleb Harris with a score of 29. Spectators were present at the event and are welcomed – just beware of flying discs.
