Village President Mike Broaddus was joined with other village leaders and the South Jacksonville Fire Department to dedicate the flag and raise it for the first time. The flag is 30 feet tall by 50 feet wide. Patriotic songs were sung by Village Water Clerk Jackie Kennedy and Laura Benz, and a moment of silence was observed in honor of the events of September 11, 2001. The village plans for lights to be installed to illuminate the flag at night.
