Springfield Clinic Pediatrics welcomes Dr. Manasi Hulyalkar:
Manasi Hulyalkar, MD, MBA, FAAP, Dipl. ABOM, has joined Springfield Clinic’s Pediatrics Department as of Sept. 26, 2022. She will be seeing patients at Springfield Clinic Jacksonville.
“I wanted to pick a career that would make me excited to go to work in the morning,” Hulyalkar says. “After doing my medical rotations, I realized my personality was best suited for pediatrics, and it was the best decision I made.”
Dr. Hulyalkar earned her medical degree at Maharashtra University of Health Sciences in Nashik, India. She completed her pediatrics residency at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield and completed her Master of Business Administration in health care management from Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Prior to joining Springfield Clinic, she served as a pediatrician for HSHS Medical Group.
“My guiding principle in medicine is to treat the patient the way you would want yourself and your kids to be treated,” she says. “So, I always encourage my patients to ask a lot of questions so that they understand their care plan and feel empowered to make good health decisions.”
She is board certified in pediatrics and obesity medicine.
Jacksonville Wellness holds ribbon-cutting:
Jacksonville Wellness, a functional medicine practice, held a ribbon-cutting at its location, 1521 West Walnut St., Suite D, on Sept. 27. Jacksonville Wellness owner Katie O’Neil is a nurse practitioner who is fellowship trained in metabolic, functional and anti-aging medicine. Jacksonville wide scouting recruitment event to be held October 25:
The Boy Scouts of America, Abraham Lincoln Council invites you to “Come Join Scouting!” A sign-up night will be held October 25 from 7-8 p.m. at the Community Park Center, located at 1309 S. Main St.
We will have every unit from Jacksonville at the event, plus fun-filled game and activities as well as an archery blow up range. Recruitment is for boys and girls k-5 for cub scouts and troop level is 5-12 grade.

Treats for troops:
The Franklin Waverly Military Support Group continues to send packages of food and toiletries to deployed soldiers.
The group writes: The last several months, we have been mailing 100 boxes. With a rotation coming up, some soldiers will be coming home so our count will drop to 50. This task takes many hands and lots of supplies. We are grateful for the continued help we have received in the past 20 years.
Since Halloween is fast approaching, we are asking anyone that has leftover candy to donate it to the support group. We will have collection boxes at Peoples Bank & Trust in Waverly, Community State Bank in Franklin, Franklin City office and First National Bank on Route 4 in Girard. We use the loose, individually wrapped candy as a filler in the food boxes.
The deployed soldiers are so grateful for the boxes, and many send us letters of thanks. It is heartwarming to know that every box is appreciated. It is sad to say that many soldiers receive no mail from family or friends. These boxes are the highlight of their day.
This group of dedicated people meet twice a month at the Franklin Methodist Church basement, the first and third Tuesday at 7 p.m. All are welcome to come and help and witness the spirit of giving. If you need more information, contact Celia Edwards at 217-435-4671.
