Events, decorations, music, shopping and so much more await you on the square in Jacksonville

What does every Christmas Hallmark movie have that makes it magical? A small, close-knit town that embraces the enchanting beauty of Christmas.
We have that right here in Jacksonville … with two charming “small-town feel” coffee shops, beautiful horse and carriage rides offered during the season, holiday shopping events, Santa’s house, Christmas parades, holiday window displays and so much more! Visit our very own ‘Central Park’ this holiday season in downtown Jacksonville to embrace all things Christmas.
Kicking off the event calendar, on November 22 and 23 is “Pinkmas.” Pinkmas is similar to “Black Friday” but for small businesses. The idea is to shop locally before you shop at the big box stores. Pinkmas shoppers can expect door busters, prizes, games, freebies, deals, new inventory and more!
On November 29, downtown Jacksonville will be filled with eager families ready to welcome Santa Claus to town as he makes his debut for the season during the Christmas Parade.
“Holidays In Central Park Vendor Market” lands on Small Business Saturday, November 30. The vendor market begins at 9 a.m. and ends at 4 p.m. There will be live music, live Christmas trees, letters to Santa, wreath making, horse and carriage rides, and more during this event!
To add to that Christmas magic, the retail storefronts will have beautiful window displays lit up with Christmas decor. Jacksonville Main Street will announce the winners for the window display contest on December 7. On December 14, kids can enjoy breakfast with Santa at the AmVets, 210 E. Court St., from 9-11 a.m.
There are multiple groups of leaders working together to make this holiday season so incredibly special and sprinkle that magic around downtown. As the square continues to grow, so does the enthusiasm and ambition to make it as special as it can be. Just down the road from downtown, at the Morgan County Fairgrounds, the “Festival of Lights” will be going on again this year. This is a beautiful drive-through light show that is fun for the whole family. Stay in your cozy car and check out the tunnels of Christmas lights.
Whether you bring the littles or make it a date night, there will be something for everyone in downtown Jacksonville this holiday season. Imagine enjoying the horse and carriage rides with your loved ones, listening to live music while you drink hot chocolate, and welcoming Santa to Jacksonville while you take pictures by the beautiful window displays. No need to travel far to be able to enjoy these special moments.
