Waltrip family donates to Bob Freesen YMCA:
The Waltrip family donated $4,000 to the Bob Freesen YMCA in the name of Jim “Wally” Waltrip. Wally loved sports and helped with and played baseball and softball in Jacksonville throughout his life. The Waltrip family knew he would love this donation to the YMCA where he played ball for many years.

Jessica Brogdon selected as new Communications Coordinator at Pathway Services:
Jessica Brogdon is the new Communications Coordinator of Pathway Services Unlimited, Inc., according to an announcement by Ryan C. Dowd, Pathway Executive Director.
Brogdon joined Pathway in 2020 as an Administrative Assistant. She most recently served as Financial and Human Resources Assistant. Prior to joining Pathway, she was a unit secretary at the former Passavant Area Hospital. She holds an Associate in Health Sciences-Medical Administrative Assistant and is currently attending Southern New Hampshire University for her Bachelor’s Degree in Communications specializing in Public Relations.
As Communications Coordinator, Brogdon will be responsible for all marketing and public relations for Pathway. In addition, Brogdon will coordinate promotional material for Pathway, The Attic Resale Shop and all Pathway business ventures. Such ventures include Pathway’s handmade Bow-Wow Bits dog biscuits, Pathway Prime Auto Shine carwash and detailing, Pathway’s gardening center, cooking club, paper shredding opportunities and cardboard cutout business. Brogdon will also help increase awareness of the services that Pathway provides by speaking at local service club meetings.
Executive Director Ryan Dowd had this to share regarding Brogdon’s appointment, “I am incredibly excited for Jessica and for Pathway with this new endeavor. Over the past couple of years, we have tried to take the focus away from classroom activities in the Community Day Services (CDS) program and focus more on paid work opportunities, Michael Elmore, Program Services Director, has done an amazing job of putting this together since his appointment as Director and Jessica’s involvement at this point in time should take Pathway to places it has never been. Our micro-businesses are established to lead to bigger and better opportunities for the folks we support, eventually catapulting them into community integrated employment. I am thrilled that Jessica is going to help drive that effort.”

The City of Jacksonville has received a lot of calls about the construction work taking place in the Utility Right of Way. This work being done is not the City, it is private utility companies doing the work, to which they have a legal right to be there. Utility companies are legally allowed to be within the Utility Right of Way, subject to applicable Federal, State, and City regulations.
If the companies install any utility outside of the right of way, they are required to remove the installed utility, and replace it inside the right of way. Sometimes the right of way can be many feet beyond the sidewalk, and may appear that they are working on your private property. It’s in their best interest to do their due diligence to make sure they are working within the utility right of way. These companies are also required to replace the property back to the status prior to the work being done. Please have patience. The work being done is for the greater good of Jacksonville residents.
