Dedication, hard work and the love of working with the public have been the key ingredients in the recipe for success for Kathy Thompson. After 45 years, she has retired from US Bank.

Thompson started at Elliott State Bank in 1978 in the bookkeeping and proof department. After several mergers, Elliott became US Bank.

Next, she worked in the safe deposit department and finally, was a personal banker.

“I’ve really enjoyed working at the bank all these years, but I would say being a personal banker has been my favorite passion,” Thompson stated. Through the bank, she earned trips to Washington DC, San Francisco and she has been to Las Vegas twice.

When asked what she will miss most, Thompson relied “everything.”

“US Bank is a great company to work for and I have formed many friendships with my coworkers and customers,” she said.

As Thompson heads into a new chapter in her life, she will have more time to devote to doing some of her favorite pastimes. In her free time, she enjoys making wreaths out of antique ornaments and playing Sudoku and other puzzles.

Thompson is a Jacksonville native, the daughter of Vince and Lou Penza. She has stayed in Jacksonville to be near her parents. She is married, and has four children and two grandchildren, all whom she loves dearly.

“My husband and I plan to travel more in our motorhome with our two dogs, and I would love to spend more time with my family,” Thompson noted.

On November 27, 2023, US Bank had a retirement party for Thompson. It was held at Future Champions, with coworkers, family and friends in attendance.

“My time with US Bank has brought many memories,” Thompson concluded “I want to thank everyone for a wonderful retirement party.”
