The camp located near Meredosia features weekend camping experiences for all students entering grades 5 through 12 each weekend in June. Registration for the camp is $35 and may be obtained by logging into the camp’s website at greenpasturesretreatcenter.org or by calling the camp at 217. 584.1374.
During the course of the weekend each camper will be given instruction in the areas of dance, improvisational theatre, puppetry, video production, and instrumental music. No previous training in the arts is needed but campers are encouraged to bring any instruments to camp.
Ken Bradbury, the camp director, said, “It’s about the most fun we get to have during the year.” Ken’s staff of approximately 35 counselors every weekend are experienced in both the performing arts and working with students. “They’re what make the camp go,” said Bradbury. “Most of my staff plan their vacations around PAC. They grew up here as counselors and it’s a very special place to them.”
Bradbury and Chuck West formed the Performing Arts Camp over thirty years ago and it’s become a summer tradition for many area students. “It’s God and the arts,” said Bradbury. “A perfect storm.”
