The world is full of extraordinary people who have gone the extra mile to help others during this unusual time we live in. Like many business owners across the United States, quite a few have adjusted their day-to-day routine to fulfill a need on the front lines of battling COVID-19.
Olga Jordan, a fashion designer based in Orlando, FL, decided to take her company, Great Couture Fashion, Inc., and start producing masks based on the Center for Disease Control guidelines. Along with her husband Reginald, a Jacksonville native, the Jordans are working hard every day to produce and ship the PPE throughout the United States and some to Europe.
Since starting to make the face masks, they have done many large bulk orders for nursing homes, hospitals, car dealerships, hotels, schools, banks and many more companies and organizations. The largest order that she has fulfilled has been to a group of nursing homes. “It is hard to put a number to the sheer volume of work getting these produced and shipped out,” commented Olga Jordan. “Even though our customers come from all over, our biggest client draw has been from Illinois and Florida.”
The masks are 100% cotton, multilayered (including a pocket for your choice of filter), machine washable and reusable. Currently, Jordan has 90 choices of fabric on hand ranging from elegant and fashionable colors to sports teams (like the St. Louis Cardinals and Blues; Chicago Cubs, White Sox and Bears). She also carries Disney themed material like Marvel’s Avengers, Star Wars, Mickey and Minnie Mouse, and Frozen; all whimsical and fun. She has also produced masks in rural and farmed themed materials such as John Deere and International Harvester.
“Most of the work has pivoted to mask making, though I’m still able to provide bespoke dressmaking, alterations, etcetera,” concluded Jordan. Her business is still taking new orders for bridal gowns, evening gowns, cocktail dresses and women’s business suits, as well as scarves, headbands and other custom designs. You can contact and view her work through the website www.greatcouturefashion.com or her Facebook page, Great Couture Fashion by Olga Jordan. Having over 15 years of experience in the fashion industry, she credits her love for fashion from when she was only six years old and she made a jacket for her pet rabbit. Her love and desire to pursue the dream of working in fashion comes from the loving encouragement and influence of a grandfather.
The Ukraine native living in Poland, Jordan decided to move to Chicago in 2017. It is then that she became acquainted with her future husband, Reginald Jordan. After he had moved to Orlando in the summer of 2018, they kept in touch and by October of that same year he flew her down to visit and the relationship started to blossom.
She joined Reginald and his family in Jacksonville for Christmas in 2018 and they formally announced their engagement on Easter 2019. They were married in an oceanside wedding, with family and friends, October 2019, in Miami Beach.
Reginald Jordan is a 1990 graduate of Jacksonville High School and a 1994 graduate of Millikin University in Decatur. He is a full-stack marketer and his main focus has been website Search Engine Optimization (SEO).
Where she takes care of design and production for her company, Reginald Jordan handles the sales side. Olga Jordan gives him credit for building her website and also refers to him as the Chief Marketing Officer, Chief Operations Officer and bookkeeper.
