Jacksonville High School Crimson football players were practicing on the track Wednesday, July 22. The players, all wearing masks, were out in excessive heat, hoping for the opportunity to play in their 2020-2021 football season. At the time of this writing (7/28/20), the Illinois Elementary School Association canceled most of its fall sports schedule because of COVID-19. The Illinois High School Association (IHSA) is expected to announce their decision on Wednesday, July 29 for the future of high school sports. Many people affiliated with both organizations expect IHSA fall season athletics to be canceled.
