Veterans from May’s Lincoln Land Honor Flight spoke at the Catholic Daughters of America of the Church of Our Saviours’ meeting at the Knights of Columbus Hall in Jacksonville on Thursday, August 3. Each man spoke of his favorite experiences, the emotions and the memorable experience it was for each of them. They all encourage other Veterans to sign up for this experience and encouraged people to sign up as guardians who assist the Veterans throughout their trip. They also said the next Honor Flight will return at 9:30 p.m. on September 12, and everyone is invited to come and welcome the Veterans home from their flight. All the men said that the greeters and people clapping and saying “welcome home” when they returned to the Springfield airport was a very emotionally uplifting part of their trip. Information, updates on Lincoln Land Honor Flight events, applications for Veterans or Guardians and donations can all be found on Lincoln Land Honor Flight Facebook page or www.LandofLincolnHonorFlight.org. At the end of the meeting, the Catholic Daughters of America had passed a box and raised more than $400 to present to the Lincoln Land Honor Flight.
