At their regular meeting on Monday, August 10, the Morgan County Commissioners voted to appoint Kim Mitchell as Morgan County Treasurer. Mitchell fills the vacancy created by the passing of Jenny Geirnaeirt.
That afternoon, Morgan County Circuit Judge Chris Reif swore in Mitchell. It was an intimate ceremony held in the main courtroom at the Morgan County Courthouse; the witnesses to the ceremony were primarily family.
Kim Mitchell was the recommendation of the Morgan County Republican Central Committee, as the committee had met on July 29 and voted to endorse Mitchell to the Morgan County Commissioners to fill the Morgan County Treasurer vacancy. Additionally, the committee slated Mitchell as the Republican candidate to fill the remainder of the term in this fall’s election.
Mitchell brings with her over 20 years of management and marketing experience with the past 15 years spent at Waypoint Foodservice and Commercial Solutions as a sales and marketing director. In her current her role as regional account executive, Mitchell is responsible for managing a team of professional sales specialists, which generate millions of dollars in sales and commissions for the company in Illinois, Wisconsin and St. Louis.
Kim Mitchell and her husband, Troy, reside in Jacksonville. They have four children and two grandchildren. They have owned small businesses in Morgan County for the past 24 years and have been very active in the community. She is excited to be in a role that places her back to her hometown and community.
